Why I change my orthopaedics… I m not very pleased with my last two visits at Sunway Medical Centre and my physiotherapist.
Last week, I went to Dr Lau, Orthopaedics recommended by Tze Hong. He checked my Left knee and my right knee. Concluded: Swelling of meniscus causing the pain inside the knee, thus squating can be uncomfortable. Twisting and turning motion is prohibited, no hill climbing, no jogging… u can imagine.. these are the basic things I shouldnt do.
The injury: ACL in my case was a result from a landing after a jump.
Recognizing an ACL injury (this is exactly how I felt)
If you injure your ACL, you may not feel any pain immediately. However, you might hear a popping noise and feel your knee give out from under you. Within 2 to 12 hours, the knee will swell, and you will feel pain when you try to stand.
Anyways, anyone with injury. RICE is the word. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.
Compression means wearing a knee brace to ensure the stability of the knee to reduce swelling.
Elevation of the legs above the body level when u are lying down.
Dr Lau recommended, Swimming, Stationary cycling. Since last week, I forced myself into the pool at least 2x a week. It wasnt easy, as I have phobia. When I kicked my leg..I feel the instability at the joint area… I couldnt hold the "hoover" or "plank" position on my toes since day 1..however, yesterday, I was able to do the hoover/plank on my toes. I was able to do side plank, back bend. Can u imagine what swimming can do? Knees are stronger.. but not 100% !! Doing some yoga cross legs position is problematic, there is still some stiffness and pain. Sorry fellas, if u see me doing stupid things in the gym.. dun laugh out loud ya…. LAugh till u DROP!.
I want to thank some of my friends, Porkchop, Princess, Feli, Geisha Jam for joining me at the pool.
Thanks porkie.
